Course overview
This introductory Level 1 online course develops awareness of Legionnaire’s disease, the bacteria that cause it and the risks associated with contaminated water systems. Learners explore common sources of Legionella, routes of transmission, symptoms, treatment, prevention measures and employer responsibilities. The course also introduces risk assessment, control measures and record-keeping to help learners understand how Legionella risks can be managed in homes and workplaces.

Please note: This course provides introductory theoretical knowledge and awareness of Legionella risks. It does not replace specialist Legionella risk assessment, technical water-system training, practical instruction or additional role-specific training that may be required by an employer.
