Is this training a legal requirement?
There is no general UK legal requirement for every employee to complete this specific workplace bullying and harassment course. However, employers have legal responsibilities relating to the prevention of unlawful harassment and the management of workplace concerns.
The Equality Act 2010 provides protection against unlawful harassment related to protected characteristics and sexual harassment. Since 26 October 2024, the Worker Protection (Amendment of Equality Act 2010) Act 2023 has required employers to take reasonable steps to prevent sexual harassment of workers.
Training can form part of an organisation’s wider approach to prevention, alongside appropriate policies, reporting arrangements, risk assessments and management procedures. Completing this course alone does not establish that an employer has met all its legal responsibilities.
