Course overview
This online course gives employees the knowledge needed to recognise fire hazards, minimise risks and respond appropriately if a fire occurs. Is this training a legal requirement?
The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 does not specify a particular fire safety course. However, it requires employers (Responsible Persons) to provide employees with adequate fire safety information, instruction and training appropriate to their role. Fire safety awareness training can help organisations meet these responsibilities by ensuring staff understand fire hazards, prevention measures, emergency procedures and their individual responsibilities. Employers should provide training during induction and whenever there are significant changes to workplace risks or procedures. Regular refresher training is considered good practice, and many organisations provide it annually or in line with their fire risk assessment, policies or changes to workplace procedures.
