Course overview
This one-hour online course introduces the principles of child safeguarding and protection. It helps learners understand safeguarding responsibilities, recognise possible signs of abuse and neglect, identify factors that may increase a child’s vulnerability and respond appropriately to concerns. The course also covers children’s rights, online safety, reporting procedures and the roles of organisations involved in safeguarding. It is CPD accredited and includes an online multiple-choice assessment.

Please note: This course provides Level 1 introductory safeguarding awareness. It does not replace practical, regulated or role-specific training that an employer may require.

Is this training a legal requirement?
There is no single UK law requiring every worker to complete Safeguarding Children Level 1 training specifically. However, the Children Act 1989, the Children Act 2004 and statutory guidance such as Working Together to Safeguard Children establish important safeguarding duties and expectations. Employers in healthcare, education, social care and other relevant settings should ensure that staff receive safeguarding training appropriate to their responsibilities. The course provides introductory awareness and does not, by itself, establish that an individual or organisation has met every applicable legal or regulatory requirement.

Assessment and certificate
Learners complete an online multiple-choice test at the end of the course. After successfully passing the assessment, they receive an instant digital CPD-accredited certificate that can be downloaded or printed. The course takes approximately one hour and is delivered online, with access available upon enrolment. Learners can study at their own pace using an internet-connected device.
