This course looks at the ways in which a patient’s privacy and dignity can either be supported and maintained or undermined, within the healthcare sector. It will provide case studies, which can then be analysed and discussed.

• Know exactly what is meant by Privacy and Dignity within health and social care
• Know how to keep the privacy and dignity of patients
• Understand the process of keeping information confidential, and when it is permitted to break such confidentiality
• Know how to make the correct decisions in dealing with cases involving privacy and dignity
• Know how to support patients in making their own decisions, as well as encourage others to participate in their care
