Course overview
This online course provides advanced safeguarding knowledge for professionals who work regularly with children, young people and families. It explores how to recognise signs of abuse and neglect, assess potential risks, understand professional responsibilities and respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns. The training also covers early help, child protection assessments, effective communication and collaboration between agencies. The course takes approximately 3 hours to complete and is CPD accredited.

Is this training a legal requirement?
Safeguarding Children Level 3 training is not specifically required by legislation for every worker. However, employers have legal responsibilities to safeguard and promote children’s welfare under legislation including the Children Act 1989 and the Children Act 2004, alongside the statutory guidance Working Together to Safeguard Children. Healthcare organisations are also expected to provide safeguarding training appropriate to staff members’ roles in line with NHS safeguarding guidance and professional standards. Level 3 training is commonly recognised as the appropriate standard for many registered healthcare professionals whose responsibilities include assessing safeguarding concerns, making referrals, participating in child protection procedures and working across agencies. The training required depends on the individual’s role and responsibilities.

Assessment and certificate
Learners complete an online multiple-choice test after studying the course material. Successful completion provides access to an instant digital CPD-accredited certificate for download. The course is delivered online and can be accessed on a phone, tablet or computer, allowing learners to study at their own pace.
